I love this time of year and the way it brings the best out in people. It causes us all to slow down a bit and reflect on the past year. I wish we had this Christmas fever year round – doing random acts of kindness, giving a little extra, putting extra thought into special gifts for the ones near and dear to our hearts, and creatively stimulating our sweet little one's minds with exciting traditions. Maybe what makes this time of year so special is the fact that it does bring out the best in people, but why can't we all be that way all year?
My goal for 2012 is to live with this excitement and joy year round, to live purposefully, and to enjoy the simple and the big things. I like to believe I already do this, but know I can do better. It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our every day lives. It’s easy to wish things were different at times. Instead of focusing on what things need to change we should try harder to focus on what we have and the fact that it is exactly how it is supposed to be. God has blessed me with an amazing life, family, and friends and has me where I am for a reason. I hope to live my life out to the fullest, with purpose, and appreciating what I have all the way.
Tonight as I’m trying to pack, clean, finalize presents, and fill the car I want to keep focused on why we’re doing all this. I want to soak it all up and enjoy every minute of it. I won't let it overwhelm me, but instead to overflow my heart with thanks, peace, and joy. May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and a year full of blessings! We’ll be the car driving from one point of the state to the other overflowing with things and, most importantly, love!
