Swim Lessons

Isabelle began her first year of official swim lessons with Dede Boone this summer. She was so excited and so were we. Dede has been giving swimming lessons to kids in Pullman for the past 45 years. She was a swimmer at WSU and is an amazing teacher. In 1965 her parents put a swimming pool in their back yard for her. At ages 93 and 97, they still live in their home and Dede gives her swim lessons in their pool. She keeps the pool around 90 degrees. She says it's one of her tricks to helping the kiddos learn faster. They stay warm and can focus their energy into their swimming rather than shivering the entire time.

It seemed to do the trick! Can you tell how much Isabelle loved her swim lessons? A little different story from her first day last year {and yes, you'll notice she is wearing the same swimsuit last year as in the first picture on this post... gotta love that all her swimsuits from last year still fit this year!}.

Going under like a duck on the first day.

You'll notice how in every picture she has a smile on her face. When I was going through all my pictures, there wasn't a single one she wasn't smiling in.

Swimming like a frog to Dede.

Tummy float with "no wiggles".

Swimming with "big arms" {free style}.

Swimming in the deep end.

Safe jumps. {Even smiling in midair!}

The last 15 minutes is free time. The kids put on floaties and can jump off the diving board, go down the slide {Izzy's favorite}, and play with all the fun pool toys.

What a fun two weeks! We can't believe how much Isabelle learned in those two short weeks. We're already looking forward to next year! : )
